Mike Boswell

LEAD PASTOR

Mike is the founding pastor of The Journey Church, which launched in January 2010. Originally from San Francisco, Mike graduated from Bethany University with a Bachelor's Degree in Church Leadership. Bethany is also where he met his wife, Wendy. Mike pastored his first church in Sisters, Oregon for eight years before moving to Boise to start The Journey Church. He and Wendy have four grown kids who they love dearly (Kaitlyn, Michael, Kalyssa and Brielle). They also have a son-in-law, Hunter, a daughter-in-law in Peru, Dami, and a grandson, Theo! Mike and Wendy are grateful to be here in Boise, helping people find and follow Jesus!

Wendy Boswell

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Wendy and her husband, Mike, have planted two churches, including The Journey, where they currently serve as pastors. Sixteen years ago, they felt called to plant in Boise, where they continue to serve the community. She loved homeschooling her four children for the past 23 years. Wendy is also passionate about missions and has participated in outreach trips to Russia, Mexico, and Peru.

This past year she began working with JEMfriends, a nonprofit organization that supports youth who have aged out of the foster care system.

Wendy holds a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Christ for the Nations and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an emphasis in teaching and a minor in general ministries from Bethany College.

In her free time, Wendy enjoys reading (especially spy novels), studying nutrition and herbs, hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, scrapbooking, traveling, and training their German Shepherd. She also loves teaching history, having tea with friends, and—most of all—spending time with her grandson.

Wendy is deeply passionate about mentoring women for ministry leadership. She loves encouraging people of all ages to engage with the living Word of God, experience His presence in worship, and discover the gifts and calling He has placed on their lives.

Katrina Wendland

WORSHIP & TECH MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Katrina has been part of Journey Church since 2014, where she and her husband, Ethan, now the Pastor of Administration, served faithfully for several years before Ethan was called into ministry. Katrina fully supported his calling while continuing to volunteer on the worship team. Though she once believed she’d never serve on church staff, she felt a deep conviction to pray for God’s direction, and He opened the door. Today, she serves bi-vocationally as Director of Worship & Tech Ministries, passionately stewarding God’s presence and witnessing lives transformed for Jesus. Katrina and Ethan are proud parents of two amazing children.

Ethan Wendland

PASTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Ethan, a Boise State University graduate, was called to ministry in 2017 when he accepted a part-time youth pastor position at The Journey. Without formal ministry training, he served faithfully for five years alongside his wife, Katrina. From the start, Ethan has carried a heart full of passion, vision, and deep love for the local church, desiring to reach a hurting world with Christ’s transforming love. In 2022, their family helped plant a new church in Kuna, ID, where Ethan served as Executive Pastor. After a brief season of rest and seeking God’s direction, he returned to The Journey as Pastor of Administration where he is making a meaningful difference in the life of the church and its mission.
